Devotional of the Week July 5-11

1 Corinthians 1:4-8

"I thank God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; that in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Many Christians I'm afraid are too satisfied with a "easy believin" mentality where they think all they have to do is believe in Jesus and they will be saved. Many do not realize however that once they are saved, God seeks to enrich their lives with spiritual gifts that will build them up and church. Many are unwilling to exercise their spiritual gifts because they are afraid of been seen as weird or fanatical, but God is reaching out to us to enrich our lives with special gifts from heaven. He gives us these gifts so that we can be strong to face life challenges, and to grow to be more like Him. Let us therefore not refuse these gifts but embrace them, because God has given them for our good.
