Practical Biblical Tips for Controlling Swine Flu

As a Biblical Health Coach, one of my duties is to inform people of Biblical Health information that will save their lives. I have found through experience, and application of Biblical health principles, that the Bible is NEVER wrong, and that the health principles of the Bible are scientifically sound.

Let me first give my heartfelt sympathy to those who have lost loved ones to swine flu. Let us also pray for the speedy recovery of those who have fallen ill to this disease. Already, about 20 cases have been confirmed in the United States, but none have died. In Mexico, however, at least 81 people have been killed by the disease so far. This is therefore a very potentially fatal form of the flu, and everything should be done to either prevent it, control it, or cure it. Many countries around the world are now scrambling to control the spread of this virus, which if allowed to get out of hand can result in a worldwide epidemic.

In the Bible is found hygiene principles, which if followed, will decrease the spread of the disease. The principles are as follows:
  1. Do not handle any pigs (Leviticus 11:7; Deuteronomy 14: 7-8). Pigs in their natural state are considered unclean animals in scripture. How much worse a sick pig!
  2. Avoid causual or intimate contact with persons who have come in contact with pigs, especially the dead bodies of slaughtered pigs (Leviticus 11: 24). Such persons need to wash their bodies, and change into fresh clothing BEFORE making personal contact with others (vs. 25). This is just good basic hygiene, which includes THOROUGH HANDWASHING to prevent the spread of germs.
  3. Avoid persons who are infected with the swine flu virus. According to medical reports, this flu is highly contagious and will jump from person to person. According to the Bible, persons who display a "running issue out of his flesh" are contagious (Leviticus 15: 1-12). We should therefore be especially cautious around people who are sniffling, sneezing, or coughing as these discharges from the nose are infectious.
  4. Avoid using utensils, and personal items of persons who are infected. According to some reports, the virus can linger on surfaces touched by the infected individual. According to the Bible, infected surfaces are contaminated, and need to be washed or destroyed (Leviticus 11:31-33). Of course, back then they did not have powerful germicides like what we have now, but the principle is the same: DESTROY THE GERM AND IF YOU CANNOT DESTROY THE GERM BY ITSELF, THEN DESTROY THE SURFACE ON WHICH THE GERM IS FOUND. You might want to re-think shaking hands with persons who are sniffling, coughing or sneezing or who have tissue paper bunched up in their hands to clean their noses. If you are infected, then you need to THROW OUT THAT INFECTED TISSUE PAPER that you are using to clean your nose. You are only re-infecting yourself, and potentially others!

These are just a few Biblical tips which will help to control the spread of the disease. If you are infected, please see a doctor and get proper care to get rid of this bug. Below is a link to the latest news report for today.

Have a healthy week everyone!
